371. From Marxist to Anti-PC Libertarian: Dr. Michael Rectenwald on Intellectual Transformation
In today's flagship Lions of Liberty podcast, Marc is joined by Dr. Michael Rectenwald, a professor of Global Liberal Studies at NYU. Dr. Rectenwald became an epicenter of controversy at NYU after it was revealed that he was the man behind the Twitter account @AntiPCNYUProf , from which he sent tweets decrying the recent push for "politically correct" speech on his and many other college campuses. Dr. Rectenwald's journey is fascinating. He was a far left progressive commentator and upon rejecting the Democratic Party after the election of Obama was pushed even further left to become a full-fledged Marxist. But in recent years, social justice and PC culture led to him re-examining the entirely of his political belief system, to the point that he now identifies as a libertarian. FF 146 - 36 Years in Prison for a Murder She Didn't Commit - Judy Henderson's Story
Today on Felony Friday Judy Henderson joins John to talk about the unbelievable injustice she suffered in the criminal justice system. In 1982, Judy Henderson was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 50 years for her role in a robbery-turned-murder. Her boyfriend at the time – the man who committed a robbery, fired a gun, killed someone, and shot Henderson herself in the process – went free, while Henderson did the time. In December of 2017, Missouri Governor Eric Greitens commuted Judy Henderson’s sentence to time served: 36 years and 111 days. The Governor reached this decision after he and his counsel reviewed thousands of pages of reports, court transcripts, letters, and records related to Henderson’s case.
