Cup Of Tea: Les Lawson
Cup of Tea: Les Lawson
Les Lawson is a name familiar to many Reds as the secretary of the Merseyside branch of the official Liverpool Supporters' Club.
This summer, Les, despite leading what he believed to be a relatively healthy lifestyle, suffered a heart attack. Here, he speaks to Gareth Roberts and John Gibbons about what happened, his recovery, his roots as a Red and his proud record of attending every home game since the 1976-77 season (a record which continues!).
Les is also trying to raise awareness of the warning signs for heart problems. Official figures show that in the UK alone 160,000 people die from heart and circulatory disease every year and 73,000 people die from coronary heart disease.
We also speak to Les about the support and messages he received from Reds all over the world, from fans to ex-players.

Free Podcast: Liverpool Mauled By Man City
A dreadful result but how bad was the performance? Well a couple of The Anfield Wrap thinks it was really rather abject from Liverpool against Manchester City and that both players and manager should be expecting more and better.
Both the defence and the midfield three come under real criticism and the key decision of the game is discussed at length. Was Jon Moss right to send Mane off? Was it a terrible decision? Or just demonstrative of the balancing act referees have to go through? And what about Mo Salah's performance and half time substitution?
To pick the bones out of all this and far more from the game for 80 minutes Neil Atkinson is joined by Philippa Smallwood, Mo Stewart and Stu Wright. We don't talk about 5-0 reverses on The Anfield Wrap so this one is unique. It had best stay that way.

Free Podcast: Rampant Liverpool Dismantle Wenger's Sorry Arsenal
A fantastic Liverpool performance against Arsenal has, in the eyes of the mainstream media become a story about Arsenal rather than one about the Mighty Reds. Not on The Anfield Wrap. Here we wax lyrical about Jurgen Klopp's side and their dominance over their North London opponents in all areas of the pitch.
The front three get their deserved praise but the back line and midfield won their battles. It was a team performance from the side and one which announced themselves as genuine contenders for this season's title.
Joining Neil Atkinson are Rob Gutmann, Philippa Smallwood and Dan Morgan to talk about the outstanding display of the season so far.
