#62 – Make Fun Happen, Create Cool Products & Improve The Environment | Chris Lynch
You’ve heard the first part of this story before. Shit, it might have even happened to you.
Chris Lynch graduated in 2008 with an Economics degree and was ready for a life full of Hedge Funds on Wall St. A few years later, the San Diego native Lynch found himself on the beach with no job and no idea what to do.
The second part of this story is unique.
Lynch got a call from an old friend, Michael Samer. Lynch and Samer worked together as tour guides for a kayak company in La Jolla. Samer told Lynch that the business was selling and he wanted to buy it with Lynch.
With no entrepreneurial experience, Lynch said yes.
The third part of the story is purely awesome.
What started as a kayak tour company in 2010 has turned into a premier California lifestyle company, Everyday California.
“We want to make fun happen, create cool products and use business to improve the environment.”
With merchandise, a 1% pledge for the environment and even their own IPA – they are accomplishing their mission.
In this episode of the Millennial Momentum podcast, Chris and I talk about his entrepreneurial journey, his toughest moment in the business and how he’s built such a strong brand.
The fourth part of their story, the future, is unknown but Lynch is in no rush to expedite growth in if it damages the culture they’ve built.
And his advice for others who sit where we was in 2010?
Just start. It’s too easy to not put a few hours a week into a passion project.
“Whatever it is that you want to do, start right now. Start today.”

#61 – 4 Tips For Interns | Monday Motivation
This is for my followers in college right now. There’s such a massive emphasis on internships and choosing the right path at an early age.
Here are my 4 tips for navigating the internship market and how to set yourself up for success:
1). Try something different – get out of your comfort zone!
2). Get a job with REAL responsibilities – not being stuck in Excel all day
3). Relationships, relationship, relationships
4). Work hard. If all you’re doing is stapling papers together, be the best damn stapler that company has ever seen
It’s a great time to try new things and get experience before the “real world”. Hope these tips help you out.

#60 Living With A Seal Book Review
Most of us are stuck in a routine. We do the same thing every morning – whether it’s waking up with our families, getting a workout in or heading straight to work – it usually doesn’t vary much.
Jesse Itzler caught himself in this trap. Itzler cofounded Marquis Jet (which sold to Warren Buffet), helped to pioneer Zico coconut water (which sold to Coca-Cola) and currently owns the Atlanta Hawks. In his spare time, he runs ultramarathons. He is not someone you would categorize as needing to “shake things up” or get more fit.
But that’s not how he saw it. He knew he needed a change.
So, like any normal person, Itzler went down to the local gym and hired a trainer, right? Wrong.
Instead, he cold-called a former Navy SEAL – and probably the toughest man alive – David Goggins. He asked Goggins to live with him and his family for 30 days. Wait, what?
Itzler wrote about the experience in his book, “Living With A Seal.”
I read it so you don’t have to. Here are 9 ways that Itzler’s decision can help you break through to the next level.
“Most of my successes in life have come from learning how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Like I said, I just want to get better.”

#57 – How To Use Social Media To Grow Your Business | Jamie Shanks
Jamie’s first 6 business all failed. In 2010 he was 18 months into his 7th venture, a sales consulting firm, and was on the verge of bankruptcy. With his back against the wall, Jamie began leveraging his LinkedIn connections to find customers. He created his “Sphere of Influence” methodology and has been teaching it to entrepreneurs and sales teams ever since.

Phillip Stutts is working on a moonshot – a daring, seemingly impossible mission. When most of the world is trying to go 10% bigger, a moonshot is 10x bigger. Stutts has a rare Esophageal disease that has never been cured before. He’s determined to be the first.
He’s also hunting for moonshots in business. Stutts is one of the masterminds behind the curtain of political marketing. With more than 20 years of political and marketing experience, Stutts has worked with multiple Fortune 200 companies and has over two decades of experience working on campaigns with billions of dollars in political ad spend and contributed to over 1,000 election victories, including hundreds of U.S. House campaigns, dozens of U.S. Senate campaigns and even three Presidential victories.
He founded Go BIG Media in 2015 and recently wrote “Fire Them Now”. He has been lauded as a “marketing genius” by Fox Business and “the political guru” by ESPN.
In this episode, we talk about how companies can follow political strategies to grow their customer base, Stutts’ process for goal-setting and how he will accomplish his moonshots.

#54 – Better Never Stops | Ryan Burke
This week, I had Ryan Burke on the Millennial Momentum podcast. Ryan is the SVP at Invision.
We talked about Ryan’s career in SaaS sales, how to find a mentor and his tips for working remote.
Ryan’s team has a mantra: “better never stops.”
This seems really hits the nail on the head. You can always push for that 1% better.
And the best never stop – they keep pushing forward. When it’s early in the morning, when it’s Christmas Eve, when it’s a Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend. That’s when the best create distance.
Listen to my full conversation with Ryan here.

#53 – Use The “Cookie Jar” Method | Monday Motivation from David Goggins
In this episode, I talk about how to use the “Cookie Jar” method to push through challenges. David Goggins’ quote below sums it all up. Let’s have a killer week!
“The cookie jar is a place in my mind where I put all things bad and good that shaped me. Some people try to forget the bad in their life. I use my bad for strength when needed, great lessons learned. In that cookie jar, I pull out whatever I need for the task at hand.” – David Goggins
