Season 1 Eps 18 Young Hearts, Run Free- Windy Wilson does a Goggins 17 Oct 2020

We first met Windy Wilson back in Episode 12. Known as the 'Scotland's Greatest Amateur Weatherman' the colourful meteorologist has amassed an epic sized following across his social media channels. But underneath all that wind an inspiring runner has evolved.  Already with marathons and an ultra under his belt his latest challenge was altogether different. And the reason for doing it was all about the fundraising, CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) were the focus of Windy's latest fundraising adventure. John and Steven find out about Windy's 4 x 4 x 48 David Goggins challenge he undertook just over a week ago. He was still buzzing from it, as you may be able to tell, word of warning this episode is for after the watershed....there's a few swearies! You can donate to Windy on his fundraising page here https://justgiving.com/fundraising/windywilsonkilimanjaro2021 ENJOY and remember to give us a comment or two on our insta page www.instagram.com/youngheartsrunfreepodcast

Season 1 Eps 17 Young Hearts, Run Free - Owain Williams @ScottishRunner - 6 Oct 2020

It's been a few weeks since our last pod, but this episode is worth the wait, Episode 17 of Young Hearts, Run Free is a belter. We're joined by Owain Williams aka @scottishrunner on insta.  Owain talks to John @J0hnCassidy & Steven @wattinperth about his running journey, and it's one worth hearing, trust us. From a standing start in 2008 Owain has taken his running to the next level, chopping a massive 2 hours plus off his marathon time into the equation. Our chat focusses on his recent double marathon weekend which not only was a remarkable feat but gave him the chance to raise a stack load of money for 2 charities very close to his heart, Scottish Air Ambulance (https://www.scaa.org.uk/) & Oxford Hospitals (https://www.hospitalcharity.co.uk/)  In an often candid and entertaining catch up we find out some of Owain's why, his motivations, his greatest achievements, his rewards and about our mutual love of Coffee, yes we do drift off topic but then it wouldn’t be a YHRF podcast if we didn't!! We also hit him with our quick-fire round, listen to the end for that one!  Sit back and listen or even better hook up those ear pods and run or walk whilst you listen it's well worth an hour of your day! Remember follow us on instagram @youngheartsrunfreepodcast and make sure you give Owain a follow too @scottishrunner (his daily pics are well worth it!)
