68. How Burnout and Chronic Stress Can Affect You as an Entrepreneur With Dr. Amanda Chay
Building a business is a lot of work, especially in the beginning 'solopreneur' stage. We often have a lot on our plate, and we tend to put consistent pressure on ourselves. Experiencing burnout, overwhelm, and chronic stress is all too familiar in the entrepreneurial space; however, understanding what you're experiencing, how it's affecting you, and your limits are crucial for preventing the physical and mental effects of long-term stress. In this episode, we are diving into all things around burnout and chronic stress as an entrepreneur with Dr. Amanda Shea. Dr. Amanda Chay is a Naturopathic Physician, store owner, and business consultant for wellness professionals. Running a busy clinic, online education platform, and brick & mortar store, she realized the most common cause of hormone imbalance and chronic disease was chronic stress. Her background as both a doctor and owner/founder of multiple corporations has made her an expert in optimizing wellness and peak performance in body, mind, and business. In this episode, we cover… Chronic Stress, What it means and how to identify it Recognizing the signs of burnout The difference between chronic stress and burnout The connection between cortisol and inflammation Actionable steps for recovery from burnout Setting and defining boundaries for preventing overwhelm and stress "When you're in that chronic fight or flight mode, like you have so much on your plate, you were late for the bus, or you got in a fight with your spouse, whatever it is, all these little things, our bodies start increasing cortisol. So you're always in this kind of high cortisol state. And that's when people tend to feel more anxious and overwhelmed, tired, but wired." "burnout is so hard to define because it's not actually like a medical condition. I think of it as typically, like low crash cortisol." "I think as entrepreneurs, we're always in the thinking, growing, expanding kind of phase in our mind. It's like, oh, what's next? What other cool things could I do? It's hard, I think, for entrepreneurs to be in the moment of being like, look at what I have and what's here. I think we're always kind of chasing the next thing. And that makes it hard just to calm down and be in the moment." 67. Why I Quit Being a Digital Nomad (For Now)
Last week I made a big life decision and life change. I didn't even know it was coming or that I would be mentioning this on the podcast, but I have decided to quit being a digital nomad. Now I'm not quitting the travel lifestyle forever, but there are times throughout your journey when you have to reset, recalibrate and learn to follow what your body is telling you. In this episode, I dive into some personal big life decisions and changes I am making, most of which I would never have thought I would be saying. I also want to share my views on what freedom really means, the importance of decision making and making those decisions from the right place, and how to balance life and business so you can enjoy a healthy base level of happiness and live a lifestyle free of choice. In this episode, we cover… The reasoning behind this significant life change The sentence I thought I would never say Tuning in to your body and intuition How to balance lifestyle and business to keep thriving The importance of decision making has when it comes to that feeling of freedom What freedom actually means "You always have the power of choice; you're never stuck, right? Like, all of us want that choice. And we derive stability and security. And thus, you know, freedom or feeling like we have freedom a lot of times comes from money, which is why so many of us, of course, you know, want money and wealth, and I'm all freaking about that. But ultimately, freedom comes down to having a choice, right." "Freedom of choice, it's so powerful and such a representation of success in your business. But freedom is also about learning to trust yourself. And what I mean by that is more of internal freedom." 66. Why Resting Is Productive For Your Business (& Makes You Money)
Are you actually being productive with your time? Or are you staying busy and working 24/7 in your business without the results to show for it? I hate to break it to you, but more work doesn’t necessarily equate to more money. What if I told you that resting and recharging will do more for you and your business than working nonstop ever will? Look, you probably don’t need to be convinced that rest is good, but you might need to rewire the internal narrative telling you that rest is bad. In today’s episode, I am sharing --from someone who used to have this core belief to someone who now operates very differently-- how resting and recharging will 100% amplify your business growth and be seen as a money-making activity. I’m going deep on topics like how to use your natural energy to do more in less time, why cranking through your to-do list is a different mode to high-level, strategic thinking (and why rest impacts both), and the four biggest fears surrounding rest that might prevent you from actually resting and prioritizing recharging yourself. This episode is so necessary, especially if you’re an entrepreneur trying to do all the things in your business. Click that play button to learn why prioritizing rest will help you get productive, motivated, and creative again. In this episode, we cover… What happens when you don’t rest and recharge The seven different types of rest and why they are all important How to shift the alternative perspective of rest The grey area between working like crazy and laziness Why your energy management will help determine how you need to rest and recharge “Recognize that rest is a choice, and it’s a reflection of your values. You have to value rest to choose it and to allow it to recharge you.” - Amanda Kolbye “If you start to value rest, you’ll start choosing it more, and your actions will start to realign to make rest present and apparent and a priority in your life and in the way that you operate.” - Amanda Kolbye “When you learn how to incorporate rest and recharging into your normal life, I promise, you will come back 10 times more powerful and 10 times more productive and efficient. With brilliant ideas just spewing out of you. You will amplify your income and your business growth, and you’re going to feel good doing it.” - Amanda Kolbye Thanks for listening, and if you like what you’ve heard, feel free to share this episode with your friends! 65. Shifting Your Money Mindset Using Manifestation with Amanda Kutner
If you’re an entrepreneur, there’s a good chance you’ve struggled with money mindset at some point in your journey. Shifting your mindset around money is a core piece of evolving as an entrepreneur and in your business. When you start thinking about what you want in your business and what’s important to you when it comes to money --and do the necessary inner work --you will begin to shift the narrative and manifest your desires around your finances. In today’s episode, I am talking to Amanda Kutner, an NLP trainer, a master NLP practitioner, a master certified hypnotherapist, and an EFT practitioner who has helped hundreds of students around the world to shift their identities, smash their fears and really learn how to rewire their brain to achieve the successes and desires. During our conversation, we’re diving into how some of the core money mindset beliefs and fears can impact your business, the different ways you can approach money mindset, plus the science behind the manifestation from a neuro-linguistic programming perspective. In this episode, we cover… Uncovering your core beliefs surrounding what money means to you Ways to shift from a state of lack to one of gratitude How to approach the generational narrative of “hard work equals money” What subconscious mind work and healing looks like with NLP The science behind manifestation & using it in your own journey “You have this focus, and then all of your actions are just kind of following suit without really trying too hard. So that whole working hard thing kind of stems easily and effortlessly when we're on track and focused on what we do want.” - Amanda Kutner Connect with Amanda: Website: http://innerbeautybybel.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/innerbeautybybel/ Thanks for listening, and if you like what you’ve heard, feel free to share this episode with your friends! 64. Why Motivation Is Not The Secret To Success (& What Is)
One of the biggest questions I get asked by my clients is: how do I stay motivated and get all the things done? Well, I have unpopular news for you. Motivation is not the secret to success. The overall notion of cultivating and needing motivation is bullshit, but I do think it has its place. If you truly want to show up, serve, and be unstoppable on your entrepreneurial journey, you need a little more than motivation to get you there. In today’s episode, I am breaking the illusion, once and for all, that entrepreneurs need to cultivate motivation to find success. Because you straight up don’t. I’m unpacking why motivation is not the secret weapon, how relying on motivation takes away your power to create, why you can’t wait for inspiration or motivation to get things done, and why learning how you operate can help set you up for success. In this episode, we cover… What the secret to success is (and why it’s not motivation) Why hard work is what will move you forward in your business How to get on board with discipline if you move strongly in the feminine energy Why discipline and your work ethic are the only things you can control How to harness the power of discipline and become unstoppable “No matter how many team members systems, any of that stuff that you have in place, your success will always come back to your level of discipline. Everything you want is on the other side of you harnessing that power of discipline.” - Amanda Kolbye Thanks for listening, and if you like what you’ve heard, feel free to share this episode with your friends! 63. Truths & Takeaways About The Road To 7 Figures
Whether you’re just starting out or already further in your journey, the road of an entrepreneur is a crazy ride of ups and downs. But it’s so important to remember that as you pivot from a freelancer or side hustler to a business owner and CEO, you will not be able to sustainably scale up to the seven-figure mark without showing up and leveling up in a big way. Because the road to seven figures feels bigger and is bigger, and it means bigger money, bigger risks, bigger challenges, bigger failures, and bigger rewards. In today’s special episode, I am reflecting back on my road to scaling to seven figures and giving insight into some of the biggest takeaways that I’ve learned along the way. I’m getting raw and real on topics including why you need to stop putting pressure on hitting arbitrary milestones, how to take back your joy by letting go of the timeline, and why hustling and strategy alone won’t get you to seven figures. I’m also speaking on realigning and reevaluating your internal beliefs and values so you can sustainably scale to seven figures and beyond. In this episode, we cover… Why the inner work is required to hit seven figures What really happens when you hit milestones Why your inner reality manifests before your outer reality Releasing the timeline and taking back your definition of success The importance of valuing more than money and realigning your values “ Remember that you’re building the rest of your life and a lifestyle, not just hitting a business milestone, so don’t lose yourself in that along the way.” - Amanda Kolbye Thanks for listening, and if you like what you’ve heard, feel free to share this episode with your friends!
