Avey Tare sits down with Kyle Meredith to talk about Time Skiffs, the first Animal Collective album in six years. The musician aka David Portner takes us into the visual world the band have created for this set, in which linear time doesn’t exist.
Tare also touches on how the visual album Tangerine Reef influenced the new LP, and why he found himself looking back at their career as he entered the sessions. Elsewhere, he discusses how fans compare their current material to their earlier sounds, his knack for melody balanced with his love of minimalism, and what it means to be a band from America. Primal Scream’s main man Bobby Gillespie sits down with Kyle Meredith to talk about his autobiography, Tenement Kid. The Scottish musician discusses growing up in post-war England with the fear of death around him, being anti-facist and an artist that stands up for causes, and being a feminist from a young age.
Gillespie goes on to talk about the power of discovering Thin Lizzy and Ramones at 15, being a current fan of Kurt Vile and Kelly Lee Owens, and how the sequel to this book will spotlight his career through the '90s.

John Lurie catches up with Kyle Meredith to talk about Season 2 of Painting with John, his HBO series that finds the musician, painter, actor, director, and producer creating his watercolor masterpieces while giving us all insight into his life, philosophies, and often-bizarre adventures.
The Lounge Lizards co-founder takes us inside the recurring sketch called "Cowboy Beckett" that weaves throughout this new season and how it took inspiration from Ennio Morricone. He tells us why he gravitated toward watercolors, and how he comes up with the titles of his paintings, which sometimes tell complete stories themselves.
Lurie also discusses the joys and importance of swearing, why he portrays himself as a wolf in his work, and a bit of the backstory behind some of the original music featured in this new season.

The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian on Exploring His Classic Songbook
The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian joins Kyle Meredith to talk about John Sebastian and Arlen Roth Explore the Spoonful Songbook, a collaborative LP that finds the two musicians reimagining the band’s classic catalog through instrumentals and guest vocalists.
The “Welcome Back” singer-songwriter takes us his partnership with Roth, compares these new versions to their ’60s originals, and tells us about finding jug band music in his youth before marrying it to the rock and pop music that would result in those legendary tracks. Sebastian also takes us through the sparse arrangements of songs like “Daydream” and “Do You Believe In Magic,” tells us why they weren’t able to come up with a new arrangement for “Summer in the City,” and the inspiration behind “Didn’t Have to Do It” and his solo cut “Stories We Could Tell."
We also get to hear about writing children’s television music in the '80s, including “Care Bears Countdown,” and that he and Roth may do a sequel to this record.

Bastille’s Dan Smith sits down with Kyle Meredith to talk about Give Me the Future, the band’s fourth album, which finds them using sci-fi and predictions of the future as a concept behind alt-pop anthems.
The English artist discusses the virtual world in which the characters constantly escape into, using science fiction as a vehicle to write by, and creating Future Inc. as an augmented reality platform next to the music. Smith also dives into the collaborative nature of the process, a first for Bastille, including a spoken word piece from Riz Ahmed. Elsewhere, he shares his thoughts on the reality of our own future.
