In our new sermon series, we’re focusing outward rather than inward, not at ourselves but at those Jesus has called us to serve and reach. Zacchaeus was unquestionably an outsider–a short, unethical man despised even among his own people. Bob walks us through the short story of Zacchaeus’s encounter with Jesus and explains the 6 thing Jesus did to invite him in.

In Jesus’s last hours, he asked his disciples to stay awake and pray with him… but it wasn’t easy! How can we, too, stay woke?

Jesus asked a whole lot of questions, and we’ve studied some of the more important ones together over the last few weeks. In the penultimate sermon in this series, Jesus asks the most important question: who do you say I am?

Like the questions of Jesus we’ve been looking at in this series, though, there’s more beneath the surface…

Maybe you’ve heard the parable of the Good Samaritan, the humble man who stopped to help a fellow traveler others passed by. Do you remember, though, that his parable was in response to a question, and that Jesus finished it with a rhetorical question of his own? Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?

You can learn a lot about someone by the questions they ask. Jesus might have already known the answer to every question he asked, but they can still teach us quite a lot about him. This new series explores some of those questions, starting with the deceptively obvious one Jesus asks to his disciples in a storm: why are you so afraid?

Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift… – Matthew 5:23-24. In today’s special message Jonathan Wolfgang challenges us to actually go out and do what Jesus said.
