Scalable Coaching for Sustainable Development

Coaching and mentoring are often used synonymously in the corporate world, but there are some distinct differences between the two. Mentors often have specialized experience in their field and can say ‘Hey, to be successful at what I do, you need to do xyz’ without the input of the mentee.   Coaches are more intentional in their approach by helping individuals uncover their own knowledge and skills and facilitating coachees to become their own advisors. In this Learning Tech Talks, I’m blowing the whistle with Laura Chapin from CoachHub - The digital coaching platform to discuss why digital coaching is all the rage and an important capability in developing the workforce. We’ll also help make sense of all the noise around digital coaching and talk about how to create sustainable learning and behavioral change in organizations by creating a personalized, measurable and scalable coaching program for the entire workforce.

Get Your Skills in Shape with Techwolf

The hunt for skills has only just begun. Investing in skill development has finally gone mainstream over the traditional "hire what we don’t have" approach. Is this shift in strategy driven by free will or forced demand? I’m not convinced that the talent pool is shrinking, but rather a new pool has formed and is waiting to be filled. Talent pools were often a  naturally occurring phenomenon outside of the workplace and are now something that learning leaders need to develop strategically. In this Learning Tech Talks, I'm continuing my conversation with Mikaël Wornoo from TechWolf about improving an organization's ability to find and action against the skills of their workforce. We'll highlight how roles and future roles can be filled without the overhead of traditional methods using AI and NLP to empower every individual,  boost HR, and boost business.

Laser-Focused Adoption with Apty

I've seen it too many times. On paper, this 'disruptive' software will save millions, increase productivity, and offer countless benefits from the previous way of  doing things. And then it doesn't. GASP! Top-down management and software don’t always jive well together. It’s more like an interpretive dance. Sweet moves, Zuck! Senior leaders need to make decisions FAST  but often overlook implementation and adaptability. Experimenting to find the right balance is often risky and time-consuming. Considering that this happens in every organization at every level you would think we would have this figured out by now. In this Learning Tech Talks, I’m talking dad-to-dad with Krishna Dunthoori, founder and CEO of Apty to hear about the digital adoption horror stories that drove him to find a solution to make complicated enterprise software simpler and quicker to adopt. Building a foundation with on-screen guidance,  Krishna continues to work towards solving the deeper-rooted problem of process compliance with a full portfolio of solutions in an all-in-one package to solve unique problems at scale.

VR Magic Tricks with The Glimpse Group

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”  - Arthur C. Clarke In 1911, Henry Ford won a challenge to the Seldon patent that had been stifling progress in the automotive industry for decades. Moving forward, cross-licensing between manufacturers steamrolled the auto industry to where it is today. In a similar fashion, OpenXR is hopeful in providing standardization and progress necessary for the future of VR. I believe that the progress and adoption of AR/VR within L&D  are contingent on information being SHARED and not hoarded as we navigate the #futureofwork. In this Learning Tech Talks, I’m chatting with Dj Smith, Chief Creative Officer The Glimpse Group, to hear about some of the magic tricks he has for our brains with the group’s portfolio of AR/VR startups that offer everything from learning solutions to data visualization, all while working together as they aim to become the premiere VR/AR Software and Services company with a global footprint.

Roar at Scale with Curious Lion

I’d be a lion if I said that I didn’t take pride in my silly episode puns. Fancy new L & D products often give a false feeling of, “GREAT! I won’t have to do xyz anymore!”. As learning leaders, we still need to take pride in our work. Many organizations claim to offer a wealth of opportunities to transform your workflow and design. While many do, it still takes continual effort to deliver and transform behavior beyond static information transfer. The fuel of a learning culture NEEDS to be organic for a dynamic learning ignition. In this episode Learning Tech Talks, I’m curiously joining the pride of the lions, Andrew Barry, Founder & CEO of Curious Lion to paw through his strategy for guiding growing organizations that want to influence learner behavior to prepare them for the future changes and challenges that their role will face. I’m excited to hear more about Curious Lion’s ‘Learning Flywheel’ and chat about the challenges that come with breaking the learning inertia.

Democratizing Storytelling with YEP Nation

“Meta-design is much more difficult than design; it's easier to draw something than to explain how to draw it.” - Donald Knuth   The metaverse has become a word that everyone seems to be talking about. Facebook name change aside, the metaverse is simply a digital world that looks to bind the power of a compilation of technologies, consisting of AR, VR, and video, and will allow users to work together in a digital world. I’ve had a number of guests on this show that have demonstrated its virtual application to L&D, but I believe we’ve only scratched the surface on the exciting things to come in the hashtag#futureofwork.     In this Learning Tech Talks, I’m connecting with Edward Prentice III, Founder and President of YEP Nation Inc. to learn more about what Yep Nation is doing to pioneer the metaverse within organizations through a private virtual metaverse (PVM) and to discuss the role PVM’s will have in changing the landscape of the digital workplace for learners and workers alike.

Shift Mindsets at Scale with Tigerhall

I was really hoping  Tigerhall would send me a shirt to wear for this episode, but I’m afraid that my peers might get the impression that I’m a big cat person. When  I was in my early teens, I wasn’t always a team player. I “played” on a  team, several actually, but my growth as an individual was limited due to the fact that I was more confident in MY own understanding (I knew everything) and became absorbed and stunted by my own negativity. But then I got a J-O-B. I soon came to the realization that we are ALL  playing on a team in the workplace. By helping others grow through sharing knowledge and expertise, we can win by accomplishing a common goal and hitting our targets. In this Learning Tech Talks, I’m learning in with Nellie Wartoft, Founder and CEO of Tigerhall to talk about the trophy that institutional learning holds for career seekers and how Tigerhall is unlocking the power of scalable social learning by democratizing mentorship through real-world ‘thinkfluencers’  that serve to build and develop leadership capabilities and consequentially power, drive and deliver innovation.

Play More & Learn More with Attensi

I never thought I’d see the day where technology could create training simulations that were almost indistinguishable from real-world experiences, but here VR!...................But here V R! *crickets chirp* Is anyone else as excited for enterprise VR as I am? What a time to be alive as we watch the beginnings of a technology that is going to not only transform L&D, but every aspect of our lives. As with all beginnings, there are failures and It’s more important than ever to be vigilant and skeptical of what enterprise VR can offer to your organization and whether it has the resources and capabilities to provide what they claim to offer. In this episode, I’m cutting through the virtual fluff with Huw Newton-Hill and Greg Hull from Attensi to dissect their approach to industry solutions and learn more about what they are doing to create impact in their VR training solutions with far-reaching results that are spread throughout all levels of an organization. I’m interested to hear their honest thoughts on the future of VR and what they are doing to continually innovate and subsequently create a long-lasting relationship with their partners.

Make the Talent Match with Multiverse

My oldest son told me the other day that he wants to become a railroad engineer when he grows up. I told him he's going to need a LOT of training. I’m pretty vocal about alternatives to traditional higher education. This wasn’t always a very popular opinion. However, I think we live in a time where the idea that college isn’t for everyone has become more accepted as organizations are finding they may have missed talent by having specific education as a prerequisite. Apprenticeships hold their place in history dating as far back as the Middle Ages and we are seeing a strong return to this model in the #futureofwork. In this episode, I'm apprenticing with Tej Mehta, Strategy & Operations Lead at Multiverse, to learn about how Multiverse is helping organizations fulfill their potential by focusing less on requisites and more on applied learning through professional apprenticeships that can teach and reskill at any age with a focus on skills that will be the forefront of change and define the jobs of tomorrow.
