In the true crime world, we talk about a lot of cases that have previously been solved. However, we also cover quite a bit of cases that are current and need more eyes and ears on watch to try and bring closure to families, be a voice for justice, or bring victims home. Recently, a new case took the media by storm. Tons of agencies were involved, and it became the most highly talked about case for a few days. The case of financial fraudster and fake German heiress Anna Delvey took the world by storm and even inspired a hit Netflix series. Today we are revisiting the case of Dennis and Cynthia Perkins. Dennis Perkins and his then-wife, a former Livingston Parish schoolteacher, had faced a total of 150 felony charges after their arrests in 2019. Cynthia Perkins pleaded guilty last year to reduced charges and was sentenced to 41 years in prison in a deal contingent upon her testifying against her ex-husband, had he gone to trial. He plead guilty in Jan 2023.Another woman, Melanie Curtin, received a life sentence last year after a jury found her guilty of helping the ex-deputy rape and film an unconscious woman in 2014.
