In this weeks deep dive into Scripture John Drury and DJ Coleman take a look into the parable of the Tenants. In this passage they discuss how this passage could be preached and give different views on how to interpret this passage of scripture. D.J. Coleman is passionate about joining God in His ministry of reconciliation. Driven by a desire to minister with excellence, D.J. completed his Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership and Community Witness at Candler School of Theology. This week John Drury and Ken Schenck dive into Matthew 21:23-32. Ken Schenck received a PhD in New Testament at the University of Durham, England in 1996. He has taught biblical languages, New Testament, and philosophy at several institutions for many years. In particular, he was Professor of New Testament and Ancient Languages at Indiana Wesleyan University. He was the founding Dean of Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University. He was Vice President for Planning and Innovation at Houghton University, and is currently the Vice President for University Partnerships for Campus Edu. He is the author of over twenty books. How will you respond to how God is working? How will you respond to how God is working in others? This week John and Amanda Drury dive deeper into the parable of the Workers in the Vineyard. They explore the different angles of this parable and indicate how this passage can be preached.  Amanda Drury (PhD, Princeton Theological Seminary) has been in youth ministry for almost fifteen years. She now serves a professor of practical theology at Indiana Wesleyan University and is ordained in the Wesleyan Church. She teaches, speaks, and writes on youth ministry, and her passion is to see teenagers empowered to express their faith in words and actions. This week John Drury and Amy Peeler take a look at Matthew 18:21-35. As they dig deeper into this passage they show how pastors and teachers can use this passage. The Rev. Amy Peeler, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of New Testament at Wheaton College, IL and an Associate Rector at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Geneva, IL. Author of Women and Gender of God (Eerdmans, 2022), “You Are My Son”: The Family of God in the Epistle to the Hebrews (T&T Clark, 2014), and co-author with Patrick Gray of Hebrews: An Introduction and Study Guide (T&T Clark, 2020), she continues to research, write, and speak on Hebrews and familial language in the New Testament. She received her BA in Biblical Languages from Oklahoma Baptist University, M. Div. and Ph. D. in New Testament from Princeton Theological Seminary, and served as a Senior Research Fellow with the Logos Institute at the University of St. Andrews.  She is an active member of the Institute for Biblical Research, Society of Biblical Literature, and a Fellow with the Center for Pastor Theologians. Her current research includes a commentary on Hebrews with Eerdmans. In addition to teaching, preaching, and writing, Rev. Dr. Peeler enjoys running, CrossFit, and time with her husband Lance, a church organist and liturgical scholar, and their three children.
