Bad Interviewing Habits - EP 32

As a podcaster, we don't have much training on how to be a podcaster but we do have a whole lot of passion and motivation to create something to spread our message. However, I think all podcasters should have a good baseline on how to do a proper interview so you sound better and have less editing to do. In this episode, I'm exposing the top 4 bad and good interviewing habits I see among podcasters. Which have you been guilty of using? Why Looking Good On Camera Is Important For Your Podcast with Suzanne Glover - EP 31

A common theme I hear among Podcasters is that we chose podcasting as our medium because we don't have to deal with visuals or video. You can podcast in your pajamas, if you like. We love the virtual space and you don't even have to bother with your hair if you don't want to. That's actually one of my favourite things about it. But more and more, we hear that video is needed as well for anything to be successful. Today's guest, Suzanne Glover, joins me to explain why we need to embrace video and how we can leverage video alongside our podcasts. Suzanne is a professional actress, sales pro and internet marketer with a combined 35 years of experience in those areas. She gained recognition in the TV and film industry with award-winning work and has been in the top percentage of earners in the Screen Actors Guild. She teaches how to connect through the camera and sell successfully in the new virtual world that we're in as well as how to successfully integrate video into your very busy podcasting life. Hit play to hear about: How to become more comfortable on camera. Market sophistication - what it is and how to adapt yourself to the different mediums available. What podcasters should be doing to encapsulate video to their advantage. The biggest challenges that podcasters face today and how to overcome the struggles of camera anxiety. Transform Self-Doubt Into Self-Mastery So You Can Put Your Meaningful and Creative Work Out Into the World With Amber Campion - EP 29

When you're podcasting, you're always learning. There's always something new to try or new conversations to be had. This learning is a journey of practice and how we don't have to take things so seriously, especially in podcasting when it's meant to be fun. This fun practice means we get to record many episodes, sometimes week in and week out. When you do something long enough, something is bound to go wrong! And even if something does go wrong, it's OK, it's part of the learning process and podcasting in general. We are all on a podcasting journey together. Get ready to go from your inner critic and transform that into your inner leader. I'm so happy to share with you my conversation with Amber Campion. Amber is a trauma-informed yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator, & mindfulness-based life + leadership coach. For more than a decade, Amber's work in the field of emotional intelligence, personal leadership, and self-discovery has led her to create embodied trainings, workshops, retreats, masterminds, and online courses supporting wisdom seekers to bring their Full Self to the world. We talk about: Breathwork and how it impacts our creative work as Podcasters. Beating self-doubt when "we don't know what we don't know" where she provides tools of grounding to deal with self-doubt in podcasting. Tips on what you need to do before hitting that record button. Finally, we include a beautiful breathing exercise I think we should all do before we ever get behind our mics [28:37]. We also talk about the seven mind traps briefly in this episode, but if you'd like to go deeper on all seven mind traps that include yoga, breathwork and insight journaling, you can access Amber's 5-day embodiment experience called "Keep the Channel Open". Stories are so crucial in the podcasting space. You can be more engaging with your audience when you have a story to share because we all know and love stories; it's how our brain best processes information. So I'm so happy to bring on Tyler Foley, who shares his perspective, through his acting and film and TV world. He's been in that world since he was six years old and is an accomplished film and stage performer as well. He has appeared in productions including Freddy vs. Jason, Door to Door, Carrie, and the musical Ragtime. Tyler is passionate about helping others confidently, take the stage and impact their audience with their stories, and that's why I've brought him on today. He also is the author of the number one best-selling book, "the Power to Speak Naked". We're going to talk a bit about that which includes overcoming stage fright and learning the secrets to being a more engaging speaker. Because Sean comes from that visual media world of film, TV, and stage and I am from the radio world where there are no visuals involved, I wanted to dig into his brain a little bit to see what the difference is and how that visual world can help in the podcasting space as well. You are going to love his stories. He really walks the walk and shows you how stories can really connect you with your audience. Inspiration for Show Notes and Episode Descriptions - Episode 25

What exactly are show notes and how are they used for your podcast? Although there are many different ways to create show notes and there isn't a "standard" or a one-size-fits-all for all podcasts, I like to think show notes are part of the listener experience. Take a listen to why it's essentially part of the customer service experience! Breathing & Voice Through the Lens of Speech Language Pathology with Kathryn Woods - Episode 24

Part of having interviews on your podcast, is meeting like-minded people and sharing their stories. Not only is it an intimate way to connect with your listeners, but also to your guests as well! One example is with Kathryn Woods, my guest today. I was introduced to Kathryn when someone we both know thought we'd have lots to talk about since we did very similar work through voice coaching. And boy, was she right! Kathryn is a Communication and Voice Coach with over 20 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She is also a recovering shy person, and fuses those aspects of her background to teach speakers, business owners, and executives how to use their voice to connect with their listeners when they speak, so they can have more influence and make a bigger impact. Although we are both voice coaches and share the same love of amplifying people's voices, it was her background as a speech-language pathologist that perked my interest! Since I do not have a medical background, I brought Kathryn on today to share her medical perspective to voice work. We chatted about tips for your voice from an SLP perspective. How breath is the foundation of your voice. Plus, what hurdles she overcame as a recovering shy person. The Future of Podcast Monetization - Episode 23

What will podcast monetization look like in the future and is it even really your best move? Have you thought about that? I bet you have. When a lot of people start a podcast, they think, "How am I going to make money from this?" It's all about money. Or is it? In a capitalistic world, we want to make money. But how does a podcast make money? That's one of the leading questions I also get when people want to talk about podcasting. And there are various ways, but it depends on where you're at, to see if you can even facilitate having monetization for your show. So let's break that down a little bit more in this episode.
