Jessie Hoover - 100 Mile Wilderness - Maine
May 1983, 54-year-old Jessie Hoover set off on a trip from her home in Texas, traveling to Maine, where she planned to hike a remote section of the Appalachian Trail called the 100 Mile Wilderness. After failing to check in for almost two months, her family notified the authorities who spent weeks looking for her. Ultimately, no clues were ever found and this case has remained a mystery for over 38 years. Between April 1989 and April 1992, five murders occurred in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. The murders were seemingly random and not connected by any motive except one. The Nevada Triangle
The Nevada Triangle, a vast area in the American Southwest, has been the site of more than 2,000 aircraft disappearances over the last 60 years. This imaginary triangle stretches from Las Vegas NV, west to Fresno CA, north to Reno NV, and back South to Las Vegas, covering almost 25,000 square miles. Todd Hofflander - Hells Canyon Wilderness - Idaho
September 24th 2010, 39 year old Todd Hofflander joined some friends on a multi day hunting trip in the remote Idaho wilderness area called Hells Canyon. As an experienced hiker, Todd was well equipped to spend multiple days in the backcountry and had been on trips like this before. On the 4th day of the trip, Todd experienced knee pain and decided to split from the group. This would be the last time anyone would see Todd until his remains were discovered a decade later. Jared Negrete - San Bernardino National Forest - California
July 19th, 1991, 13 year old Jared Negrete was on an overnight backpacking trip with the Boy Scouts in the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California. On a hike to the summit of Mt. San Gorgonio, Jared fell behind the group and was asked to stay behind and wait. The group planned to get Jared on the way down but Jared was gone. The only item recovered during the search was a disposable camera with an eerie partial selfie of Jared’s face at night. To help describe the search effort, we sat down with Rick Maschek, a SAR member formerly with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Desert Rescue Squad, who spent over a week searching for Jared in 1991. January 31, 1971, 32 year Carol Turner drove to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, in Arizona, for a short vacation while she had some time off from teaching. Carol would spend the next couple of days hiking in the monument and going on nature walks with the rangers. On February 3rd, Carol went on a hike up to Bull Pasture and was never seen again. Erika Lloyd - Joshua Tree National Park
On June 14th 2020, Erika Llyod set off on a pandemic road trip to Joshua Tree National Park, where she planned to camp. After she failed to check in with family for several days, she was declared missing on June 17th. Adding to the mystery, her vandalized car was found a day earlier by law enforcement on a highway near the park. Over the next several months, friends, family, and law enforcement continued searching for Erika with no luck. Strangely, during this search a shocking discovery was made relating to another missing persons case in the area. What happened to Erika and her car? Are the two cases related to each other?
