🚨We have a replacement for Danny Manning at Wake Forest: It's East Tennessee State coach Steve Forbes (04/30 Emergency Podcast)

Podcasts on back-to-back days because we love ya that much. On Thursday Wake Forest completed its five-day coaching-search process by deciding that ETSU caoch Steve Forbes will be the one to replace Danny Manning. This emergency pod is dedicated almost entirely to that, in addition to a potentially messy situation that awaits Wake Forest. It appears that the school is going to try and not pay Manning his $15 million buyout. Obviously Manning wants his money. As for Forbes, he amassed a 130-43 record with the Buccaneers and guided ETSU to the 2017 and NCAA Tournament. The team would have gone back this year if not for COVID-19 cancelling the Big Dance. Get informed on what could be the only major-conference coaching change of 2020 in college sports.Eye on College Basketball' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever you listen to podcasts. Follow our hosts on Twitter: @GaryParrishCBS, @MattNorlanderFor more college basketball coverage from CBS Sports, visit https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/To hear more from the CBS Sports Podcast Network, visit https://www.cbssports.com/podcasts/ To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. 04/29: NCAA rubber-stamps that college players will be allowed to make money off their name, image and likeness beginning in 2021 -- but here's the catch

Wednesday was a historic day in NCAA history. The organization, through the power of its Board of Governors, announced that name, image and likeness legislation has been approved, with the vote going into action come January of 2021. There are obviously issues and criticisms, two of which stab at the heart of all of this, so Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander make it much clearer in the first 30 minutes just how much still needs to be done and where the NCAA is going to find itself in some trouble. There's some basketball to discuss as well. After Sunday's NBA Draft decision deadline (34:20), Norlander lists the eight biggest stay-or-go decisions that remain, plus five other really good players in the draft pool he thinks will inevitably return to college basketball. The podcast definitely loses the plot around the 52-minute mark, so you've got that to look forward to as well.Eye on College Basketball' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever you listen to podcasts. 🚨Wake Forest has fired Danny Manning (04/25 Emergency Podcast)

Saturday morning brought a shock wave to college basketball: Wake Forest fired Danny Manning. We fired up the podcast machine to get an emergency episode to you. The show opens with reactions to Manning getting canned after six years, including an outrageous buyout that’s reportedly north of $15 million. Then Parrish and Norlander get to the four candidates (16:30) most likely to replace Manning. That’s not all. We had big recruiting news on Friday afternoon when Greg Brown (34:30) said no to $400,000 and the G League and opted to play for Shaka Smart and Texas. Eye on College Basketball' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever you listen to podcasts. 04/23: BYU beats Kentucky and Texas Tech for the best transfer on the market; sizing up the best first-year coaches from 2019-20

We're now in a time that features a second-year coach of a WCC program beating out the likes of John Calipari and Chris Beard for the most coveted transfer on the market. Your Thursday Eye on College Basketball Podcast opens with Matt Haarms choosing BYU, then the guys get into Norlander's ranking of the 12 most impressive first-year coaches (10:15) from the 2019-20 season. This is a BYU kind of episode: Cougars coach Mark Pope is No. 1, but Parrish has huge issues with the coach at No. 6. The pod closes with thoughts on whether Gonzaga can retain Filip Petrusev and/or Corey Kispert in advance of Sunday's draft declaration deadline. And to end the episode, a special thanks and sincere shoutout to a specific faction of our listenership, who we need to address directly and with profound gratitude.Eye on College Basketball' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever you listen to podcasts. 04/16: Why top 2020 prospect Jalen Green choosing the G League over the college basketball says a lot more about the NBA than the NCAA

Jalen Green, who is almost universally regarded as a top-three prospect in the class of 2020, announced Thursday that he'll be skipping college and instead plans on playing in the G League next season (whenever next season arrives). He'll be paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $500,000 to do so. It's the most aggressive move the NBA has made to entice highly ranked prospects to skip college, or other professional opportunities, and stay in the States on the way to ideally becoming an NBA player. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander lay out their opinions on what this decision means and why it's far from doomsday for college hoops.Eye on College Basketball' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever you listen to podcasts. 04/13: History suggests that Kentucky and Creighton's national title chances for 2021 are now in danger

Two projected top-five teams lost players to NBA draft declarations in the past couple of days: Creighton with Ty-Shon Alexander and Kentucky with Immanuel Quickley. Neither is a stunner, but both are expected to remain in the draft pool, which easily pokes both out of Parrish's way-too-early rankings. This pod opens up with some chatter on those decisions, and then at the 11:40 mark an exploration into what it means for teams with national championship aspirations to have top-60 prospects opt to return to school. From there, how about this: Stanford just beat out blue bloods and got its highest-ranked commitment from a player in more than 15 years (20:10). A nice change of pace. To wrap the pod, Norlander has the tallies in (28:00): the final standings on our against-the-spread picks from the season AND our preseason picks for over/under totals for 14 teams. Who won? What were the biggest misses? Enjoy -- and we wish the best for you and your families. Our continued thanks, gratitude and awe to those who work on the front lines -- be it in hospitals, in delivery, at grocery stores, and all other essential matters -- we thank you. We cannot thank you enough.Eye on College Basketball' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever you listen to podcasts. 04/08: The greatest games in NCAA Tournament history; the biggest draft and transfer decisions in the past week in college basketball

On Monday, CBSSports.com published Norlander's exhaustive look at the 101 best NCAA Tournament games since 1985, when the bracket expanded to 64 teams. This episode -- after some latest life updates to start -- gets into how the list was made, some favorite games, and some memories from GP. Hey, the season would have ended Monday night, so consider this your once-and-for-all bow on 2019-20. From there, the guys talk about Scottie Lewis' somewhat-surprising decision (30:30) to return to Florida -- a good thing -- and touch on three other big transactional decisions in the past few days in college hoops: Matt Haarms surprising exodus from Purdue, 20-point-scorer Carlik Jones committing to Louisville (36:00), and Cassius Stanley saying see-ya to Duke. The pod ends with some emerging curiosities on what "testing the waters" even means this year, and why college basketball could benefit from an NBA problem.
