If I've Got Jesus: When We Don't Know What To Do, We Do Know Where To Turn with Ben Fuller, Ep. 226
Music has taken Ben Fuller’s life and made it into something he never would have dreamed. Growing up in Southern Vermont on his family dairy farm, he learned about hard work and a passion he saw first-hand from his father. He started singing at a young age to pass the time in the fields and on the farm. The singing never stopped and somewhere between the farm and college, he picked up a guitar and played all those country covers he learned as a boy. Realizing, he had a voice, his friends urged him to move to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. For over a year, he had friends and family pushing him to pack up his things and go. What no one knew is that Ben had a secret addiction to drugs and alcohol and had been abusing for over 12 years. In 2015, Ben was involved in a drug-fueled relationship which led him to understand better, the other side of the disease. In addition, in 2017, he abruptly lost his best friend to a drug overdose and his entire outlook on life shifted. Motivated to change, in 2018 he finally moved to Nashville still having country music in his head with the notion he just had to “make it” in country music. Little did he know his music would change drastically after a family invited him to church for the first time. Falling face first into God, he began writing new music noticing his lyrics started taking on new meaning. His new-found relationship with Jesus led him to begin writing with a burning desire to share the love of God and tell the world his redemption story. Now completely sober, he longs to help individuals who struggle with addiction and are looking for something more in which to fill their empty souls. Today, his heart continues to fill with stories of loss, hope and love as he travels across our country to sing his story as well as the stories of those who can no longer. He Must Increase, But I Must Decrease: Developing the Humility to Deflect the Glory with Former College Football Superstar & Upcoming NFL Draft Pick, Riley Leonard, Ep. 225
Joining us today on the podcast from a conversation Zach was able to have with our guest at the most recent Ignite Men’s Impact Weekend is Former Duke and Notre Dame star Quarterback, Riley Leonard. In and throughout this conversation, Riley shares authentically about his upbringing, collegiate career, and journey of faith. Yes, he’s accumulated countless accolades throughout his career, but what Riley appreciates and values more than anything else are the opportunities the Lord has blessed him with to express his faith, particularly during interviews and after games, thanking the Lord win, lose, or draw and always deflecting the honor, glory, and praise to the Only One worthy of those things. This is a clarion call and challenge to each and every one of us to continually grow in our humility as we seek to serve those around us no matter the vocation we have been called to. Our hope and prayer is that you would join us in praying for Riley and all that God will continue to do in and through his life and leadership. Influencing Our Children For Good: The Heart Behind His New Show, ‘The Adventures of Iggy & Mr. Kirk’ with Renowned American Actor, Evangelist, and Author, Kirk Cameron, Ep. 224
Today’s guest, Kirk Cameron, isn't trying to win a cultural war with loud slogans or viral outrage. Instead, the renowned actor, evangelist, author, and outspoken Christian is offering something quieter, but arguably more radical in today’s climate: a children’s television show filled with puppets, songs, and Bible-based lessons on identity, forgiveness, and courage. In today’s episode, Kirk will be diving into the heart and mission behind his newly released, “Iggy and Mr. Kirk” children’s television show, a live-action series featuring a cast of whimsical characters and stories aimed squarely at families hungry for “safe, meaningful screen time.” The inspiration for this show really came from the cry of parents wanting something that they can put their kids down in front of for 10 minutes or 20 minutes that’s not going to assault them, or even worse, pollute their minds with wrong ideas about God, their gender, or sexuality. Instead, this counter-cultural show is geared toward actually entertaining kids and igniting their imagination while building their character and encouraging family relationships. Trust us, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss! Finding the Power to Overcome: Standing Confident in the Hope, Promise, & Victory of the Gospel with Renowned Pastor, Elder, & Author, Matt Chandler, Ep. 223
Are you ready to live with intention and adjust your mindset to be fully equipped to handle anything life throws at you? The reality is that you were made for this exact moment in human history. Things may look gloomy, and you may feel discouraged, but because of the promise and hope found in Scripture, you can be brave, confident, and victorious today! Joining us today on the podcast to remind us of the overcoming power, love, and grace that we get the opportunity of clinging to and finding victory in is renowned pastor, elder, and author, Matt Chandler! Matt has served over 20 years as the Lead Pastor at The Village Church in Flower Mound, TX which recently transitioned its 5 campuses into their own autonomous churches. He is also the Executive Chairman of the Acts 29 Network, a large church planting community that trains and equips church planters across the globe. In today’s conversation, Matt joins Zach & Josh to unpack his most recent book, The Overcomers which takes a chapter-by-chapter view of Revelation rather than a line-by-line deep dive, helping readers practically understand what God wants to say to us today through this extraordinary book written thousands of years ago. He also talks about how we should view current events, knowing that the writers of the New Testament understood themselves to be living in the “end times” or “last days.” Believers will be reminded that they are uniquely wired and uniquely placed in this moment in history as part of God’s big plan to push back darkness and to establish light. Christ has overcome, and in Him we, too, are the overcomers! Who is the most complicated person you work with? You probably don’t have to think very hard to answer that question. You already know their name, their job title, their quirks, and their flaws. You have firsthand experience with the mental and emotional fallout they leave in their wake. You’ve seen the problems their complexity creates for everyone on their team. You wish you could fix them, solve them, ignore them, or teleport them to a parallel dimension. But you can’t. You have to work with them. Midst of a Comparison Culture with Best-Selling Author, Speaker, & Former Miss Universe, Demi Leigh Tebow, Ep. 219
On this earth, a crown is what separates victors from the rest of the competitors, but the goal of creating a life worth living is not to gain a trophy, get a prize, or keep the crown. However, when all we’re focused on is the prize and not the process, we find ourselves in a dangerous position quickly attaching our identities to our accomplishments. However, our lives are not meant to be about being number one or making our own names known. Therefore, while walking you through the journey of her evolving confidence—from basing her identity on temporary labels and her own efforts, to discovering the rock-solid security of anchoring her dreams in her Maker—today’s guest, Demi Leigh Tebow joins Zach & Dr. Tim Clinton to weave her story together with the insights she's learned along the way. Today’s conversation will show you how to relate to the discomfort, confusion, and doubt that arises when you base your confidence on external things; discover God-confidence when your plans take unexpected detours, know what do when planted in unknown territory, use your story to grow an eternal impact, and stay grounded in the truth of who you are in Christ. The purpose of our lives is to love and serve God and others. Demi shows how you can be encouraged to focus not just on your aspirations, but on your greater purpose and leave behind a footprint of significance, not just success. Exchanging Worry for Worship: Holding Fast to Your Faith as an Anchor in the Midst of Anxiety with Pastor, Speaker, & Hope Dealer Grant Troutt, Ep. 218
Philippians 4:6 reminds us to, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Now, this verse is not saying that you won’t worry, or even that worry is a sin. However, it’s a reminder to us that in our moments of worry, fear, and anxiety, we have the opportunity to substitute those things when we humbly and quickly present those very things before the Lord instead of dwelling on them. Because, when you turn your worry into worship, God will turn your battles into blessings. Joining us today to dive deeper into his own personal testimony and ways in which he has managed and overcome anxiety of his own is a dear friend and familiar face and voice on the podcast, Grant Troutt. Grant is a well known speaker, young adult pastor, and truly a dispensor of hope! And today he wants to remind you that in the midst of the challenge you may find yourself in today to continually pray for God to not deliver you until He has fully developed you!
