Scott E. Brown

Jazz historian and scholar who has dedicated over four decades to researching James P. Johnson's life and work. Brown wrote his first full-length biography of Johnson, 'James P. Johnson: A Case of Mistaken Identity,' in 1987 based on his Yale University senior thesis, and has continued extensive research leading to the publication of 'Speakeasies to Symphonies.'
