Rev. William Wye Smith

William Wye Smith wis born in Jedburgh, Scotland on 18th March 1827, son o John an Isabella Smith o Roxburgh. His faimily emigratit tae Canada whan he wis young. He wis a recognised expert on the Scots leid, wirkit on the Scottish Appendix o the Dictionary, an wis ordained as a Congregationalist minister in Ontario. He translated the New Testament intae Braid Scots an deit in Burford, Ontario, Canada on 6th Januar 1917.
