
Imam al-Dhahabi
Shams al-Dīn Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Qāymāz al-Turkmānī al-Fāriqī al-Dimashqī al-Dhahabī al-Shafi'i (673-748 AH / 1274-1348 CE), often referred to as al-Dhahabī, was a prominent Syrian Sunni Shafi'i hadith master, historian, and biographer. He is considered one of the most important figures in the study of hadith and Islamic history.
