Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke makes his TIJ debut to talk about his incredible rock & roll journey! He shares stories from his early days drumming with Skynyrd, to fronting Blackfoot and touring with AC/DC, Nazareth, and Iron Maiden, to rejoining Skynyrd thanks to a Snickers bar and $1.50! He remembers his friend Gary Rossington, explains how Damon Johnson came to fill Gary’s shoes, and reveals what it was like playing “Free Bird” for the first time ever. Rickey also speaks candidly about missing the tragic Skynyrd plane crash, his induction into the Native American Music Hall of Fame, his passion for wrestling (and watching alongside an incognito Ozzy Osbourne in Florida), and why he’ll never retire from the stage.
