Ferdinando Buscema is a Magic Experience Designer who circumvented the world from Milan, Lombardy, Italy https://www.linkedin.com/in/ferdinando/ Magician-in-Residence, is a Foresight Training Facilitator at the Institute for the Future, Palo Alto California as well as the Experience Designer and Ambassador at Ferrari.
In this episode Ferdinando has a conversation with Ruud Janssen about the parallels between Magic and Events. On negative capability and how mediocre events are like jokes without punchlines. Ferdinando explains how events are like multi player games and hear him elaborate on the importance of closing the experience to deliver the effect effectively.
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Author of Flow and founding father of Positive Psychology described him as follows: “Ferdinando has been able to bring back the noble profession of magic into the 21st century. As he practices this demanding art, he aims not just to entertain, but to use illusion to provoke reflection on how we see and interpret the world. In other words, he is a philosopher—or psychologist—who shows us concretely the limits of our everyday understanding of reality. And he does so in a way that is both elegant and amusing. One wishes all learning was as enjoyable, and all enjoyment as profound.”
Listen to this episode to get drawn into the world below the threshold of consciousness. How events can soften the certainty of certain beliefs and how the magic is made.
