The anchors then shifted to a pair of big retailers reporting results. Home Depot saw shares slide at the open despite posting a beat on both the top and bottom lines. Contrastingly, Walmart was among the biggest gainers on the Dow with the company receiving a boost from strong grocery sales and back-to-school spending.
