Major League Baseball remains entangled in controversy surrounding its gambling rules after the news that San Diego Padres utility player Tucupita Marcano received a lifetime ban by the MLB.

This ban was in relation to Marcano violating the league's betting rules and policies after the now banned player placed 231 wagers on MLB markets through a licensed operator.
