I don't believe that you need to fall down to know that it hurts. I don't believe that you need to make a mistake to learn from one. I believe that we can learn from each others mistakes and stumbles and falls. That's why I'm sharing a whole bunch of my mistakes in the hope that doing so will keep you from making the same gaffes.
Some of these mistakes are seemingly obvious ones. Well, the obvious mistakes are obvious because they happen the most. The vast majority of mess ups that I share are directly related to running . Some are tangentially related. And there's even one that's just a grooming mistake. But there is no need for any of you to make that mistake either.

You don't need to do that. (34:47) You don't need to have a goatee. Ever. I had one once. It was a disaster. (36:32) Don't eat a pepperoni stromboli the night before an early morning race. (38:45) Thought I could get hydrated during a run. I couldn't. You probably can't either. (40:14) I used to say I hated running. It wasn't true and it hurt my running. Don't do that.
