I take a look at a survey from BMO that found Canadians feel like they need $1.7 million to retire and give some reasons why that may or may not be the "right" number. Secondly, I review some research from Morningstar that looks at why investors' returns have been consistently lower (1.7% on average) than the funds and ETFs they invest in.
