“Though you have not seen him, you love him.” — 1 Peter 1:8
The believers scattered throughout Asia Minor, to whom this letter was written, had never seen the Lord Jesus Christ in person. But they listened to the apostles and evangelists, who told them the true story of the Savior of the world and confirmed it with miraculous signs. Through the Spirit’s help, they came to believe in him. Their faith was joined with love for the one they had never seen. As it says, “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and though you do not see him now, you believe in him and rejoice with a joy that cannot be expressed and is full of glory.”
