Midlife Momentum: Menopause, Hormones & Weight Loss for Women Over 40 134: The Psychology of Getting it Done - Even at -20°C
It was -20°C.
Pitch dark. Warm bed. Zero desire to put on a swimsuit.
And yet… I went to swim.
Not because I’m disciplined.
Not because I love cold mornings.
But because I’ve figured out a few things about what actually gets us to move our bodies - especially in midlife, when energy, hormones, and motivation don’t always cooperate.
In this week’s episode, I’m breaking down what getting into a pool at 6:30am in the dead of winter has taught me about consistency.
Inside the episode:
🏊♀️ Why it has to challenge you mentally
💪 Why feeling competent changes everything
🎯 The kind of goals that keep you going (and the ones that backfire)
🔄 How flexibility prevents the “I missed one workout so now I’ve quit” spiral
⚙️ How to design exercise so it feels doable (forget about intense)
You don’t need more willpower. You don’t need a stricter plan. And you definitely don’t need to punish yourself into movement.
You need the right conditions.
If you’ve been waiting to “feel like it” before getting consistent then this episode is for you.
Listen in, and then let me know what your version of “-20°C at 6:30am” is.
Because I promise… you’re more capable than you think.
Keep moving forward,
Debbie
