Valeria interviews Tammy Barnes — She is the Owner and therapist for Sessions of Serenity in Murfressboro, TN.

She is a Licensed board-certified Therapist/Mental Health Specialist. Tammy Holds a degree in Psychology and a masters in science in Mental health counseling. She is a Clinically trained Trauma Professional who uses an eclectic approach to help patients, utilizing ideas and theories from Forward Facing Trauma therapy and Trauma Focused CBT in her practice. Her biggest passion is helping her clients understand how self-regulation and connecting painful past learning is the key to controlling one's emotions, mood, and overall mental health. Tammy is also the creator of the mental health app Therapist in my pocket. She is also one of the few therapists in the state of TN that specializes in DID. She has over 30 years combined experience working with, educating, and counseling children and teens, but loves working with the adult population now.

Tammy would say she is a bit off the wall, and some say a bit too open but feels she cannot expect someone to come in and trust her with their deepest thoughts and secrets, without creating a genuine therapeutic relationship. Genuine means you get a real person. One who is not afraid to share emotions. One that will celebrate life's ups and downs with you, cry with you, scream with you, pray with you and pray for you but above all she is here to help you heal.

Healing comes in many forms and fashions. Tammy loves using what works for you. She loves to incorporate music, poetry, art, sand, writing and anything else that will help bring out the strength inside you. To help understand more about who you are and what's important to you and brings you serenity. Together we will create a plan that challenges you and helps you to bring more serenity to your life.

On the personal side She is a Christian wife and a mom. She has 2 adult children. Tammy says her and her husband and are blessed to be Papa and Nana to 3 beautiful grandchildren (with 2 more on the way). Tammy says her place of serenity is on the beach in PCB Florida. Tammy is all about The Nashville Preds. And says she loves all the guys but Sissions, and Saros are her favorite. She is a huge Daughtry Fan, but loves all music. Tammy is also a published poet.
