We chat with Owen Brigstock-Barron Director, Global Sports Health Initiatives – Movember, live in the JOY 94.9 Sport Studio! Movember is on a mission to help men, and their communities, live healthier, longer lives and has partnered with Pride Cup to change men’s health in sport by reducing homophobic behaviour through engaging young men in meaningful conversations about inclusion, respect and belonging. We are joined by Beau Newell, National Program Manager Pride In Sport, to chat about the Australian Pride in Sport Summit, which is in September and the key themes, as well as the trends at last week’s National Sports Convention in Melbourne, and a brand new initiative the ‘community club’ membership. And the TCS Sydney Marathon has become a member of Pride in Sport reinforcing their commitment to building a running community that is diverse, welcoming, and empowered at every level so we hear about all the opportunities for avid runners! Alex Watson, Outreach Manager with The Flying Bats is on the line sharing all the fun of the club’s first ever Pride Cup on July 6 after 40 years in operation. The Flying Bats is the largest LGBTIQA+ football club in the world. Based in Sydney, Australia, the Club was founded in 1985, is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers.
