In this episode, I spoke with bestselling author Robert Greene. It was intense. He walked me through the nine seduction types in his book and gave examples of each. He spoke about common manipulation techniques, how using his laws of power aren’t always manipulative, the ruthless power structures in Hollywood, tips on being vulnerable, and his new book, “The Daily Laws.”
Robert Greene is an American author known for his books on strategy, power, and seduction. He has written six international bestsellers: The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, Mastery, and The Laws of Human Nature. Like I mentioned his newest book is the daily laws. This was a really fun episode. Really fun.

———————————— Show Notes ———————————— [0:00] Intro [1:55] Introduction to this week's guest Robert Greene [03:22] How Robert got interested in writing about power and strategy. [05:11] Common manipulation techniques [09:22] The difficulty of being honest [10:50] The ruthless industry and power structures of Hollywood and the music industry. [13:53] The 48 Laws of Power [16:40] Using power without being evil or manipulative. [18:12] Roberts's favorite laws [21:23] "You think that the person above you, your boss, he or she seems so powerful and in control, you don't realize that they have insecurities, that they have an ego, that they have weaknesses and vulnerabilities. You assume that if you say something a little ambiguous that they laugh it off because they are above you and don't care about what you think or say, but the truth is the higher up you go in any hierarchy, the more insecure you become." Robert Greene [22:28] The Art of Seduction [28:45] The nine seducer types [35:30] The Star [40:58] Quote on seduction types. "You have one of these qualities in you; it's natural to you; you were born with it. Seduction isn't about beauty. It's about understanding human psychology." Robert Greene [44:32] The Coquette [46:33] The Natural [52:50] "Revealing to that other person that you have fallen under their spell is almost the most seductive thing you can do because it is deeply, deeply exciting to feel that that other person is charmed by us, but in order to do that, you have to be vulnerable." Robert Greene [54:44] Tips on being vulnerable [58:09] The negative lash back from Robert Greene's books. [01:00:00] Robert Greene's new book, "The Daily Laws."
