In this special episode host Mark Sawyer-Chu welcomes Pastor Dennis Leon, a keynote speaker at the 2025 Bali International Gathering last year for Christian Surfers, to share his incredible journey of faith, ministry, and his deep involvement with Christian Surfers.
From his first exposure to the organization at age 11 in Costa Rica, when he received surf gear and stickers from a visiting mission team, to becoming an instrumental figure in re-establishing the Santa Barbara chapter in 2003, Pastor Dennis reflects on how God’s plans unfolded in unexpected ways.
In this conversation, Pastor Dennis discusses the origin and purpose of the Surf Church Collective, a global movement that emerged organically as Christian Surfers members around the world began planting churches to serve surfers in areas where the gospel was not present. Launched in 2016, the collective has become a hub for collaboration and mutual support, helping to plant and grow churches that are disciple-focused, rather than just focusing on traditional church planting.
Pastor Dennis highlights the collective's mission of complementing and strengthening the work of local Christian Surfers chapters, working together in unity to make disciples and impact surfing communities worldwide.
Tune in to hear how Pastor Dennis’s journey of faith and passion for surfing has led to the formation of a global network of churches and ministries that are reaching surfers with the life-changing message of Jesus.
