Jason Thomas, chief economist at AssetMark, said that optimistic investors need to recognize that there is always a reasonable scenario that could result in bumpy markets, but that they need to ignore the noise and look through it to be able to capture long-term trends. 'If you can't get comfortable investing in this environment,' Thomas said, 'it's going to be difficult to be successful over time, because there just aren't many environments that are more hospitable from an economic perspective.'
