Episode notes
Origin Story: Backyard D&D
- Scott's first RPG session was a D&D game run by a teacher on his mom's back porch, which hooked him instantly.
- He recalls buying early RPGs at a tiny store called Enterprise 1701 and rapidly exploring Gamma World and Top Secret.
From Arkham Pages To Full Conversion
- Scott remembers being shown Arkham House editions and a passage from The Dunwich Horror that impressed but didn't immediately convert him to Lovecraft.
- He later experienced a Traveler mash-up session that turned into a full Call of Cthulhu horror game and sealed the deal.
Earth Is The Ultimate Sandbox
- Call of Cthulhu is sandboxy because your play space is Earth and all of human history is available.
- That universal scope makes the game adaptable to any culture, period, or location.
