The leap from elite athlete to the next chapter in life isn’t always straightforward, and for three-time AFL premiership Richmond player David (Dave) Astbury it came with a lot of ‘discomfort.’ But being the curious type, Dave set out to find answers to the many questions he was faced with – a rewarding journey that’s taken him to a place of self-discovery and mindfulness, and to where he finds himself now. Backed by his resilience, ability to connect with others, and positive outlook Dave is now a mindset coach with High Performance Mindfulness – working with the likes of the Hockeyroos – while also studying Psychological Science. So how is this self-confessed ‘girl-guy’ not only shaping his future, but of those around him?
