And if one of you falls, the other one feels it too. You are a team. If your spouse hurts, you hurt.
And that's what makes it challenging in a marriage. When you get to the season where you're hanging out in the valley, it stumps your progress. You feel trapped, frozen in time, no way to escape.
The valley you are going through is what you deal with, not someone you are. Just because you are in a bad spot, doesn't define who you are as a person or a couple.
Remember, you walk in the valley. It's not a race. So stop trying to run. Running through the mess usually gets you in more trouble.
However, even in the valley, celebrate the small victories amid the big losses.
But let's be real. It's easy to get mad. So don't get mad.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Don't get mad!There really is no reason to expend unnecessary energy and effort on what you can't control. So rely on who you can...God and God alone.
- Lean on God. Isaiah 41:13 "For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."
- Grace goes before you. 2 Corinthians 12:9 "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
- Trust in God. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
The valley may seem like a dead end. But it too can be a beautiful place. Yet, you must include your Creator.
Don't do marriage alone in a valley that can destroy you.
