I hate going to the dentist. The thing that I hate the most is when the dental hygienist gives me a shot of Novocain and says, “You are going to feel a little pinch.”

Yeah, right! It feels like a needle just went through my gum and directly into my brain. 

I need to be straight with you. During this episode, you are going to feel a “pinch.”

I am going to be talking about some things that your teachers wish you knew. Maybe it’s just me, but I have always felt that anonymous feedback from my teachers was the most difficult feedback for me to hear. 

Can’t they see how hard I am working to support them? Don’t they trust me? How could they possibly feel that way after everything that I have done for them?

This episode is about the gap between what you intend as a leader and what your teachers experience day to day. And here’s the hard truth: You cannot close a gap if you keep pretending that it doesn’t exist.

So, take a deep breath, pause your defense mechanisms and remember that good leaders can hear hard things. On today’s episode of The Private School Leader Podcast, I am going to tell you The 4 Things That Teachers Wish Their Principals Knew.
