Before the Pentagon changed its media policy, classified information leaks were a regular occurance. Reporters used to be able to roam the halls freely listening, gathering and even soliciting information from Pentagon officials. That all changed when Secretary Hegseth took over.

Media outlets were in an uproar when the Pentagon decided they were no longer allowed to roam the halls freely. The place where the United States makes all decisions on the defense of our nation, war time planning, strategy and execution was the only government building that had journalist just roaming about freely. The New York Times had unfettered access, while an Admiral from a military base needed to get a day pass to enter the Pentagon. The new Pentagon policy implemented last October striped media outlets of this 24/7 access and sent media outlets into a meltdown. Nearly every single journalist refused to sign the new policy and instead staged a walkout. Then the New York Times decided to sue.
