He is originally from Romania. He came to the United States at the age of 21 with no money and no connections and not a word of English language on his lips. He worked different jobs until he started his first business, a local brick-and-mortar fitness equipment transportation company. A few months later, about nine months, the company grew. They were making six to $700,000 in sales. This is how he started his entrepreneurial journey. However, due to some immigration papers that didn't meet the deadline, he had to leave the country for about nine months.
