Episode Notes: Two Types of Spiritual Fear (Exodus 20:18-26)
Welcome to today's episode, where we will explore the concept of "The fear of the Lord" found in the Bible, specifically in Exodus chapter 20. In this passage, we encounter two types of fear that people have in relation to God. We will examine the distinction between these two fears and how we can cultivate the appropriate fear of the Lord in our lives.
The first type is a fear that causes people to withdraw and distance themselves from God. It is a fear that stems from a lack of understanding and knowledge of who God truly is. The second type of fear is a response that draws people closer to God and motivates them to refrain from sinning. This fear is rooted in knowing, revering, and pleasing the Lord.
To truly fear the Lord, one must have a close, intimate knowledge of Him. This knowledge is gained through faith and obedience. As we trust and obey God, we come to know Him more intimately. In conclusion, the fear of the Lord encompasses knowing, revering, and pleasing Him. It is a response that draws us closer to God and motivates us to live in obedience to His commandments. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have been brought near to God and have the assurance of forgiveness and eternal life. Let us cultivate a healthy fear of the Lord that leads us to walk in His ways and experience His abund
