My guest for Episode 70 of The Startup Playbook Podcast is Jason McPherson, Chief Scientist at Culture Amp.

Prior to Culture Amp, Jason was a lecturer, researcher and consultant at the University of Adelaide, where he also completed his PhD with his thesis titled: Development and Assessment of Computer-Game-Like Tests of Human Cognitive Abilities

After seeing school kids hating cognitive assessments, even the computerised versions, I developed computer-game software prototypes and demonstrated their ability to predict performance on commonly used and validated cognitive tests. combining computer programming with his main area of research in psychology.

After his PhD, Jason had several corporate roles before applying his experience and expertise in the startup space, joining Culture Amp in August 2011 as it’s very first employee.

Culture Amp has since grown to close to 150 staff, with offices across Melbourne, SF, New York and London and earlier this year, Culture Amp closed a $20M series C round of funding.
