From a published journal article from the American Journal of Health System Pharmacy, the data highlights the impact of a pharmacist directed pain management treatment plan within institutional opioid use. The report noted that with the pharmacist lead treatment there was improved patient satisfaction scores and indirect cost savings. Despite decreased opioid use, available patient satisfaction data suggested ongoing improvement in associated with pharmacist designed pain management plans.
