LSU had a thrilling come from behind victory over Wisconsin in the 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl, and Dr. Amber Selking was right on the sideline helping her Tigers remain focused on the process to come away with the victory. Beyond her success on the football field, she has taken her focus of high performance and developing championship mindsets into the corporate space as well. In this conversation with ReliaQuest Mental Performance coaches Dr. Nicole Detling and Derin McMains, Dr. Selking discusses:

Dr. Amber Selking received a master’s degree in Sport & Performance Psychology from the University of Denver, and her PhD in Applied Sport & Performance Psychology from the University of Missouri under Dr. Rick McGuire.

Dr. Selking founded the Selking Performance Group, where their mission is to help individuals, sports teams, and business organizations unleash performance excellence by tapping into the power of Mindset and Leadership. She speaks with organizations around the world on these topics, serving as a high-performance consultant to sports teams and businesses including programs like LSU Football, the Denver Broncos, Notre Dame Softball, and more. She served as the mental performance consultant to the Notre Dame Football team during the winningest five-year stint in program history and as an adjunct professor in the Mendoza College of Business at ND. 

Amber joined Lippert Components, Inc. in 2018, a publicly-traded, global manufacturing company headquartered in Elkhart, IN where she served as the Vice President of Leadership & Culture Development, and helps bring to life their vision of making business a force for good in the world.

From the LockerRoom to the BoardRoom, Dr. Selking takes a top-down, bottom-up, and culturally relevant approach to high performance. Her expertise is in optimizing human performance by partnering with leaders to build systems that are most conducive to high performance, teaching people about how their brain works, and providing strategies to build mindsets that facilitate success. Dr. Selking also hosts a popular podcast called “Building Championship Mindsets,” which has been utilized around the world, including Johannesburg, South Africa to build productive mindsets in their young people. In 2020, she was recognized as one of Michiana’s “40 under 40.”

Dr. Selking’s 2022 book, “Winning the Mental Game: The Playbook for Building Championship Mindsets” documents her widely-applied foundational mental performance training program weaving together science, client stories, and mindset training for a highly interactive and applicable read.
