WATCH CLUB: The Story Behind Hacks Will Blow You Away

Welcome to a new episode of Watch Club where we deep dive into Stan’s critically acclaimed new comedy series Hacks.

The ten-episode series tells the story of Deborah Vance, a legendary entertainer whose long-standing dates at a Las Vegas casino are on the verge of being slashed to make room for younger talent.  In order to create a new show, she is teamed up with a young comedy writer who has been canceled thanks to a few questionable tweets. Safe to say it’s disliked at first sight.

In today’s episode, we deep dive into how Hacks became one of the surprise TV hits of the year, nominated for 15 Emmy Awards, and how one of the lead actresses had never acted before taking on this role.  We delve into the famous woman the show was inspired by, the comedy references weaved into the show, and how it cleverly showcases how we talk about women in the spotlight.
