Australia is having a reckoning moment for the 1.5 million children enrolled in child care.
Over the last week there have been hearings at the Senate inquiry into quality and safety of Australia's early childhood system, and the report is due at the end of next month.
Some groups want more flexible choice for subsidised care outside of the existing daycare system, and others want to re-imagine the system entirely.
