The Importance of Caretaking Relationships

When my mother-in-law passed, I was reminded of how differently dukkoh to people and settler culture conceptualize responsibility to kin. For us, materiality is part of being, not the other way around. We tribal people don't have scripture or a Google map plotting the streets of the spirit world. Just as we do not relinquish the beingness of our human relatives with the passing of their biophysical bodies, we do not give up relationships with our non-human relations in these lands.
