What Is the Legal Position of Wild Animals in Britain?
The legal position of wild animals in mediaeval briton is complicated. Landowners were usually entitled to exploit the animals on your land. But there were exceptions to that, and certain types of species were considered to be protected. It was illegal to own greyhounds unless you wealthy, or unless you had a license to do so. Some parts of royal land which were exclusively for the use of the royal court were strictly off limits. And the most draconian penalties foro in were applied to those areas.
