The King James Bible is the end of a process, not a thing in itself. It's important to remember that the Bible for Shakespeare was not the King James Bible, but earlier Bibles. People continue to read the Bible in Latin, even after they were English versions. So King James doesn't stand there just as a sort of solitary monolith; it has a background and it has a future.
