What Is the Connection Between Gender and Patriotism?
The British, which was a new nation in the 18th century, increasingly defined itself as separate and superior to the nations of continental Europe. So I think what was taking place there was a connection between gender and patriotism. People are fascinated by the thought that someone over there is having rather more fun than them. Yes, it's a heavy combination for sure.
