This would have been a special object because this was the thing that God told Moses to build and it healed people. So maybe even a godly Yahweh worshipper would think, well, there's nothing wrong with having that as part of some festival or ritual. Who knows? It's all speculation. You have to psychologize the Israelites to come up with a quote unquote answer.
