The Railroad Strike of 1877
There was no national leadership of the strike. Workers in one community would see that others were striking, and then they would strike for the same reasons. It just spread all the way to california, actually. But it arrived in saint louis five days after it began in baltimore and martinsburg. And so this led to a huge strike.
