Surgical Approaches
The bone work involves a typical plantar fracture, gap or rotational displacement. The approach will be a longitudinal incision centered over the proximal fifth metatarsal. Partially threaded screws are placed, it is recommended to use the largest diameter screw that can be accommodated. Running and impact activities are commenced at six weeks, if the surgical sight is pain free and there's signs of radiographic callus. Finally, moving on to open reduction with plate and screw, internal fixation.
