The Four % Rule
The four % withdrawal is a rule that allows you to build up your nest egg without draining it completely. As long as you were pulling out less than four percent of the principal, or our value at the begining of the year, it could last. There's not a period in history where it would have depleted those assets completely. It kind hafe made people feel like they were in this independence to do a lot more, in the duit yourself type mentality.
